Karlštejn Castle lies to the west of Prague and occupies an exceptional position among Czech castles. It was founded in 1348 by Czech King and Roman Emperor Charles IV as a place to store the royal treasure, especially the coronation jewels, which were taken here at the beginning of the Hussite Wars and remained, with short breaks, for nearly 200 years.

You can reach Karlštejn Castle from the centre of Prague with our personal driver in approximately 45 minutes.

The opening hours vary according to the season, but most of the time is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

We recommend that you leave your hotel in Prague at 9 am, as it takes some time to get to the castle itself, where cars are unfortunately not allowed. The driver will take you to the parking lot for visitors, where he will wait for you to return from the castle tour.

The constant temperature in the cave is around 10.6 ° C, so be sure to wear suitable clothes.

The opening hours at Koněprusy Caves are from 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. You must reserve at least 2 hours for the tour. The tour itself takes about 1 hour and costs CZK 150 per adult.

If you want to do both trips in one day, you have to decide if you want to visit Koněprusy Caves or Karlštejn first.

Due to the opening times of both places, we recommend that you first visit Koněprusy Caves and then continue to Karlštejn Castle. Wherever you want to go first, simply arrange it with your personal driver who will always wait for you in the parking lot.
